GAC celebrates Austrian premiere: AION V and AION UT available to order now

(Vienna, July 16, 2026). GAC is launching its all-electric AION product range in Austria with immediate effect. At launch, the lineup includes the AION V SUV starting at €35,990 and the AION UT hatchback starting at €26,990. Colmobil GmbH, the official importer, is responsible for establishing GAC's presence in Austria and is simultaneously working on developing a dealer and service network.
With the start of sales, the announced market entry becomes a concrete offering for customers in Austria. "GAC has now officially arrived in the Austrian market," says Lars Pauly, CEO of Colmobil GmbH. "With the AION V and the AION UT, we are deliberately launching with two different vehicle concepts. This combination of a spacious SUV and a compact hatchback model creates a strong foundation for the further development of the brand." The two models were presented at their Austrian premiere on Thursday evening in Vienna before approximately 100 invited guests from the media, business, and automotive industries.
European structures and vehicle manufacturing in Graz
The launch in Austria is part of GAC's long-term European strategy. The automotive group is not relying solely on vehicle exports, but is gradually building its own structures and partnerships in Europe. The design studio in Milan plays a central role in this strategy. There, European aesthetic concepts, proportions, and requirements are incorporated into the development of future vehicles. The presence in Milan is intended to ensure that GAC specifically addresses the expectations of European customers in terms of design and user experience.
Of particular relevance to Austria is the final assembly of both models at Magna in Graz. GAC thus combines its own development and technology expertise with the long-standing experience of one of the automotive industry's most important international partners. The Magna site in Graz is designed for the flexible production of various vehicle and powertrain concepts. Magna boasts 125 years of manufacturing experience, more than 40 developed vehicle models, and over four million vehicles produced worldwide. European design and final assembly are complemented by a dedicated GAC parts center in Rotterdam. This supports the supply of spare parts within Europe and thus forms an important basis for the further development of service and after-sales structures.
AION V: D-segment SUV for everyday use and longer journeys
Within the Austrian model range, the AION V occupies the role of the larger and longest-range vehicle. As a fully electric D-segment SUV, it targets customers who want to combine generous interior space with a practical electric range and short charging times. This makes the model suitable for both daily commutes and regular longer journeys. With a length of 4,605 mm, a width of 1,854 mm, and a height of 1,686 mm, the AION V exhibits classic SUV proportions. The wheelbase of 2,775 mm provides the basis for a spacious vehicle concept with five seats. The trunk offers a volume of 427 to 978 liters, making the AION V attractive for a variety of uses. These range from daily shopping and leisure activities to longer trips with luggage.
The AION V is powered by a 150 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 210 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels. With a top speed of 160 km/h, the vehicle is also suitable for highway driving. The front axle features an independent McPherson strut suspension, while the rear axle uses a torsion beam design. Internally ventilated disc brakes at the front and disc brakes at the rear provide the stopping power. The AION V's lithium iron phosphate battery has a capacity of 75.26 kWh. This gives the model a combined range of up to 510 kilometers according to WLTP. Combined energy consumption is 16.7 kWh per 100 kilometers. This technical design positions the AION V as an electric SUV that, in addition to daily use, is intended to enable longer journeys without frequent charging stops. The AION V can be charged at an AC charging station at up to 11 kW. Charging from zero to 100 percent takes 8.5 hours. At a suitable DC fast-charging station, the model achieves a charging capacity of up to 180 kW. Under appropriate conditions, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent within 24 minutes. The standard vehicle-to-load (V2Load) function also allows the energy stored in the traction battery to be used to power external electrical devices. The AION V was developed to meet European standards and achieved a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP test.
Both trim levels feature, among other things, seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, integrated speed and lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping and lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert with door opening warning. Even the AION V Premium offers extensive standard equipment. This includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, electrically folding, heated exterior mirrors with memory function, and a power tailgate. Inside, the AION V Premium features a heated steering wheel, electrically adjustable, heated, and ventilated front seats with memory function, and heated rear seats. Digital operation is handled via an 8.88-inch driver display and a central 14.6-inch touchscreen. Standard features also include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, online navigation and music, voice control for four seating zones, in-vehicle Wi-Fi, nine speakers, smartphone remote control, and inductive charging. Acoustic glazing on the windshield and front side windows, along with intelligent ambient lighting, complete the package.
The AION V Luxury builds upon this already comprehensive equipment package and places an additional emphasis on comfort for all seating rows. Instead of PVC seat covers, a combination of PVC and genuine leather is used. The driver and front passenger seats also feature an eight-point massage function. The AION V Premium is available to order in Austria for €35,990. The AION V Luxury is available for €37,990.
AION UT: compact format with long wheelbase
The AION UT expands the product range with a fully electric C-segment hatchback. While the AION V focuses more on SUV dimensions, interior space, and range, the AION UT takes a more compact approach. It combines manageable exterior dimensions with a long wheelbase, five seats, and an electric range that extends well beyond typical city driving. Measuring 4,270 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, the AION UT is more compact than the AION V. Its wheelbase, however, is 2,750 mm, only 25 mm shorter than that of the larger SUV. This ratio between vehicle length and wheelbase forms the basis for efficient use of space, making the AION UT a model that combines a manageable exterior with a fully functional interior.
Like the larger AION V, the AION UT is also powered by a 150 kW electric motor with a maximum torque of 210 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels. The model accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. This allows the AION UT to combine its compact, city-oriented design with performance reserves for highway and motorway driving. The lithium iron phosphate battery has a capacity of 60 kWh, resulting in a combined range of up to 430 kilometers according to WLTP. Combined energy consumption is 16.4 kWh per 100 kilometers. The AION UT is therefore positioned not only as an urban electric vehicle, but also as a compact all-rounder capable of handling daily commutes as well as longer journeys. AC charging is possible at up to 11 kW. At a DC fast-charging station, the AION UT achieves a charging capacity of up to 87 kW. Under suitable conditions, charging from 30 to 80 percent takes 24 minutes. The vehicle-to-load function is also a standard feature on the AION UT.
Both trim levels share a comprehensive suite of safety and driver assistance features. These include seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera. The driver assistance package includes adaptive cruise control, integrated speed and lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking and collision warning systems, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, and front and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking. A driver monitoring system, interior monitoring, and a child safety reminder system further enhance the safety concept. The AION UT Premium comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights with automatic light control, automatic windshield wipers, and power windows with anti-pinch protection on all four doors. The heated steering wheel and electrically adjustable and heated front seats increase everyday comfort. Even the Premium version boasts a comprehensive range of digital features. An 8.88-inch driver display and a 14.6-inch central screen form the two main control surfaces. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, voice control, over-the-air updates, Bluetooth, DAB and FM radio, and six speakers are also standard features.
The AION UT Luxury expands on this offering with a range of additional comfort features. These include a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, an electric tailgate, and a heated windshield. The driver's seat also gains a ventilation function, while an automatically dimming rearview mirror replaces the manual mirror of the Premium version. Inductive charging for smartphones and an additional USB port for the second row of seats round out the comfort and connectivity features. The AION UT Premium is available to order in Austria for €26,990. The AION UT Luxury is available for €28,990.
